Lizares to Maximize Basic Medical Services, Distribution of Medicines Prioritized

Mayor Neil Lizares III met this morning with Dr. Joy Gladys Guanzon, Talisay City Health Officer to map out his administrations priority to deliver basic vital health services to the Talisaynons.

Mayor Neil's marching order to Dr. Guanzon include the following:

  1. Prescribe and provide for free full dosage of antibiotics and other basic medicines to patients;
  2. Prescribe and provide free tetanus vaccine until the 3rd injection;
  3. Prescribe and provide free rabies vaccine until the 3rd injection.

The Lizares administration plans to improve on the previous practice by providing full and complete dosage of medicines such as antibiotics and increased provision of vaccination shots.

Furthermore, the present birthing facility of the City Health Office will be renovated with the budget allocation coming from the Department of Health.

The Banco de Oro Foundation offered to sponsor the renovation of the birthing facility but since there is already a budget allocation from DOH, Mayor Neil proposed that the BDO Foundation will sponsor the renovation of the birthing facility in Barangay. Concepcion instead. This is a timely development given the arrival of Talisay City's new ambulance. This additional ambulance can cater in emergencies of the Concepcion birthing facility.

As part of the Lizares administration's flagship project on health, Mayor Neil highlighted the need for a systematic and efficient procurement of medicines to make sure that it is readily available to all Talisaynons.
