One For Education, Mayor Neil Welcomes Teach for the Philippines To Talisay City

Mayor Neil Lizares welcomes Teach for the Philippines (TFP) to Talisay City during its Program Introduction and Orientation attended by the Metro Third District stakeholders held at the Natures Village Resort and Hotel, Talisay City.

Also present are Sangguniang Panlungsod Members (SPM) Committee Chairman on Education Carl Lizares, Nicolai Jalandoni, Randy Ereñeta and Assistant City Administrator Ismael Penado and Executive Assistant Dr. Frances Mae Llamas.

In collaboration with the Office of Cong. Albee Benitez, Teach for the Philippines is a non-governmental organization that aims to push for education excellence by providing a rigorous and relevant training of teachers to make it more accessible to the countryside.

Present from the Teach for the Philippines group are Mrs. Margarita Delgado, Vice Chairman, Jan Kevin Rivera, Interim Director and Levi Guillermo Geganzo, Manager, Government Relation and Placement of TFP.

Committing to the Teach for the Philippines program are the Metro Third Mayors Francis Frederick P. Palanca of Victorias City, Mark Andrew Arthur J. Golez of Silay City and Mayor Nilo Jesus Antonio Neil E. Lizares III of Talisay with Cong. Alfredo Benitez rallying them to fully support the program by initially investing on 3 teachers per LGU to start by June 2018.

In his message, Cong. Benitez said "that in harnessing the best and brightest minds, we are helping to upgrade the educational system especially in the countryside. If we have good teachers, we will also have good students."

The signing of Memorandum of Agreement between the participating LGUs and TFP is expected by January 2018.

Also present was Ms. Gladys Amylaine Sales, OIC SDS, Negros Occidental Division, Department of Education.

Teach for the Philippines (TFP) is Co-Founded by Mrs. Elizabeth Zobel de Ayala and Mrs. Margarita Delgado.
