Smoke-Free Talisay Envisioned to Become a Reality

The City of Talisay Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Health and Nutrition, with Committee Chairman Sangguniang Panglunsod Member (SPM) Randy Ereñeta led the public hearing on the proposed ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING SMOKING OF TOBACCO CIGARETTES IN ALL PUBLIC PLACES AND PUBLIC UTILITY VEHICLES OPERATING IN THE CITY OF TALISAY, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF" today, at the Talisay City Public Plaza.

All individuals, business establishments, non- government and government organizations and concerned entities concerned were duly represented in the public hearing.

SPMs Randy Ereñeta, Carl Lizares, Gab Villacin, Zenia Astorga, RJ Tuvilla, and Edmundo Celiz were present to consult with the public. Also present were City Health Officer Dr. Joy Gladys Guanzon and Assistant City Health Officer Dr. Raul Fama, City Legal Officer Atty. Kirk Andrew Magnabe with SP Secretary Josel Faisan acted as the moderator. The salient features of the ordinance were clearly and comprehensively explained to all those who attended the public hearing.

The approval of the said Ordinance is one way of promoting good health and clean air, thus making the City of Talisay “Smoke Free” for all Talisaynons.
