Talisay farmers get fertilizers, seedlings

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Aug. 18 (PIA6) – The Talisay City government turned over various farming products to the 350 farmer-beneficiaries of 18 farmers associations in the city.

City Mayor Neil Lizares awarded about 2,240 different kinds of vegetable seeds, 10 tons of chicken dung, 300 bags of Triple 14 Fertilizer, 200 liters Free Grower fertilizer, 100 bags Certified Seeds and 100 lanzones seedlings.

The allocation for the products came from the 1.6 Bottom-up Budgeting (BUB) – of the city’s Department of Agriculture, a release from the Talisay City Information Office said.

Lizares, in his message, highlighted the importance of food security in the city, adding the said farm implements will be of great help to the farmers for better higher crop yield.

The farmers association were also given the opportunity to list down their respective priority projects to be submitted to Mayor Lizares’ office for approval.

He also encourages all non-accredited farmers association to apply for accreditation with the city to legitimize their association and to receive assistance from the city.

The provision is part of the Crop Production Assistance to the Farmers Program of the #gwapongaserbisyo.

The Talisay City Agriculture Office facilitated the distribution of the said products to the duly accredited farmers associations. (JCM/CBA/PIA6-Negros Occidental)
