Talisaynon Nailed the Bronze Medal for Badminton in the 9th ASEAN Schools Game in Singapore

Another Talisaynon in the name of Mia F. Manguilimotan of Barangay Matab-ang, this city made every Talisaynon proud. Armed with passion to excel and love for the sport, Mia emerged victorious in the women's singles in badminton and earned herself her 1st international medal at the recently concluded 9TH ASEAN SCHOOLS GAME IN SINGAPORE, on July 13 – 21, 2017.

Cognizant of the honor that Mia has brought not just to the City and to all Talisaynons, Mayor Neil E. Lizares III has given her due recognition in honor of all her achievements. In acknowledgment of all her efforts and accomplishments, Mia was given a cash gift and was presented during the Monday’s flag ceremony. Indeed, Talisay is the home of world class and top-notched athletes.

Mia started her training in Badminton at the age of 9 at the training grounds of Concepcion Elementary School. Since then, this young girl continued to empower herself in becoming the best badminton player. Her vigorous training and handwork did not went in vain for she always prevailed in every competitions that she’s in.

A consistent delegate in the Palarong Pambansa representing the City of Talisay, hence never fails to bring honor to the city. At present, she is in Grade 11 and a varsity player in Badminton at St. John’s Institute – Bacolod. With such determination and diligence for the sport that earned her numerous medals and awards, surely, this young shutter will go a long way.

In addition, Mia is the only Badminton player in the whole Negros Island Region (NIR) to have been chosen to be one of the rosters of badminton athletes for the National Team. She now trained her eyes on another international Badminton

Competition in Malaysia next year where she will again play to win and aims for the GOLD for the Philippines and for her beloved City- Talisay.
