1st TaliSine Short Film Festival Officially Opens with Campus Screening Caravan

City Government officials, DepEd leaders, and festival organizers at the launch of the 1st TaliSine Short Film Festival

The 1st TaliSine Short Film Festival officially kicked off its first screening caravan at Don Simplicio Lizares National High School with "Pamukaw: Handuraw sang Kultura kag Istorya," an opening program welcoming the festival to its inaugural venue.

Mayor Atty. Rowena "Weng" Guadalupe Lopez-Lizares formally declared the festival open through Assistant City Administrator Ismael Penado. The launch was graced by key City Government officials, including Jonah M. Javier (CGADH-1 of the City of Talisay Investment and Economic Promotions Office) and City Councilor Martin Gerard C. Lizares.

Joining the milestone event were Department of Education (DepEd) officials led by OIC-Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Jen-Ann V. Rosal, CESO VI; OIC-Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Noel E. Santillan; OIC-Chief Education Supervisor (CID) Dr. Romualdo B. Batallones; and OIC-Education Program Supervisor (LRMS) Dr. Ike Dominic A. Jalwin, along with dedicated school heads, teachers, and students.

The inaugural screening drew enthusiastic reactions and genuine engagement from the student audience. By portraying familiar community experiences and relatable characters, the showcased short films immediately resonated with the young viewers—fulfilling TaliSine’s core mission to provide a creative platform where local storytellers can share authentic community narratives.

The festival caravan continues its tour across local secondary schools, with upcoming stops scheduled at Dr. Antonio A. Lizares Memorial High School and Efegenio Lizares National High School.

The TaliSine Short Film Festival is presented by the Department of Education Schools Division Office of Talisay City and the TaliSine Festival Organizing Committee, in partnership with the City Government of Talisay, Negros Occidental, through the Tourism Promotions and Development Office and the City of Talisay Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office.
