Investing in the Architects of Our Future: Gwapa Nga Panghimanwa Supports 22 Talisay Educators

Mayor Atty. Weng Lizares, alongside LSB Coordinator and concurrent Assistant City Administrator Ismael Penado, led the turnover of cash assistance to 22 dedicated educators currently pursuing their postgraduate degrees on July 17 at the Mayor’s Office. This scholar cohort includes 10 candidates for a Doctor’s degree in Education and 12 candidates for a Master’s degree in Education.

This vital professional support is made possible through Project WENGS (Working for Education by Nurturing Graduate Studies). Originally conceptualized and established by former Mayor Neil Lizares, the program is being fully carried forward by Mayor Weng Lizares. The program's core vision remains simple yet profound: by empowering local educators with advanced knowledge and skills, the city provides the best possible foundation for all Talisaynon learners.

On behalf of SDO Talisay, OIC-Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Noel Santillan expressed heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering commitment of the Gwapa nga Panghimanwa administration. Dr. Santillan noted that from the establishment of SDO Talisay in October last year to its continuous support for schools, students, and the professional growth of its teachers, the city government remains a constant champion of education.

The turnover ceremony was also attended by Dr. Romualdo Batallones (OIC Chief Education Supervisor, CID), Dr. Julie Ann Geguiento (OIC Education Program Supervisor, Kindergarten and SPED), and Dr. Edmund Treyes (OIC Education Program Supervisor, SGOD).
