QUEZON CITY — A productive courtesy call and strategic dialogue took place at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Central Office, opening vital opportunities to empower rural women, strengthen families, and promote sustainable community livelihoods.

Representing the City Government of Talisay, Assistant City Administrator Ismael Penado met with DENR Acting Secretary Atty. Juan Miguel T. Cuna and Forest Management Bureau (FMB) Director Atty. Ray Thomas "Tom" Kabigting, alongside Rural Improvement Club (RIC) National President Atty. Mabel V. Mamba and Greenlands Orchard owner Mrs. Cynthia Flores.

The high-level discussion focused on establishing a collaborative program that shifts rural agricultural households from traditional subsistence farming toward productive, market-oriented enterprises. By integrating sustainable land management with livelihood development, the initiative aims to transform local farms into economic drivers for families and communities in Talisay.

Pillars of the Partnership
  • Cultivate the Land: Promoting sustainable and responsible agro-forestry practices.
  • Empower Rural Women: Delivering skills, technology, and market access to female agri-entrepreneurs.
  • Strengthen Families: Creating stable income streams to foster self-sufficient households.
  • Build Resilient Communities: Growing a sustainable future where no rural family is left behind.

The seed of partnership has been planted, laying the groundwork for cooperative actions that will turn shared environmental and socio-economic goals into lasting progress for Talisaynons.

The seed has been planted. Now, let us work together to make it grow.
