Project GWAPA Launches Interagency Campaign for Waste Segregation and Environmental Responsibility in Talisay Schools
City Government of Talisay • Official Announcement
TALISAY CITY, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL — Mayor Atty. Weng Lizares expressed her full support for the official launch of Project GWAPA: "Yes to Segregation!," a collaborative interagency campaign aimed at establishing proper waste sorting and responsible solid waste management as a daily standard across local school communities.
Held at the Social Hall of Talisay Elementary School, the launching ceremony brought together key government agencies, educational leaders, and partner institutions. Representing the City Government of Talisay was Assistant City Administrator Ismael Penado, alongside the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Talisay led by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Jen-Ann Rosal.
Project GWAPA seeks to turn source-level waste segregation into a shared duty and enduring habit among households, academic institutions, and barangays. By focusing on school environments, the program highlights the vital role of students, teachers, and young citizens in driving sustainable eco-friendly practices.
Under the leadership and advocacy of Mayor Weng Lizares, the initiative underscores a fundamental message: effective environmental stewardship begins with individual discipline, gains strength through interagency collaboration, and delivers a cleaner, healthier, and greener Talisay for future generations.
