Safe Haven Soon to Rise: Mayor Weng Lizares and Cong. Javi Benitez Break Ground for Metro Third Evacuation Center in Barangay Concepcion
Mayor Atty. Weng Lizares joined 3rd District Representative Javi Benitez on August 14, 2026, for the official groundbreaking of the Talisay City–Metro Third Evacuation Center in Barangay Concepcion, marking a major milestone in elevating local disaster resilience and public safety capabilities across the city.
Secured through the leadership of Cong. Javi Benitez for the people of Talisay, the modern facility is designed to serve as a dedicated, fully equipped sanctuary for families seeking refuge during typhoons, floods, and natural calamities.
Beyond providing dignified temporary shelter, the center will serve as an integrated operational hub for two vital city offices:
- Talisay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (TCDRRMO): Streamlining quick-response logistics, search and rescue operations, and emergency communications.
- City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO): Managing efficient relief distribution, family care, and social services without relying on local public schools as makeshift evacuation sites.
To guarantee unhindered access during severe weather events, Cong. Benitez committed to funding a dedicated access road leading directly to the center, targeted for inclusion in the 2027 national budget.
