Training on AI and Productivity with Google Gemini

The future of public service is smarter, faster, and more digital!

Mayor Weng Lizares fully supports the City Government of Talisay's conduct of the "Training on AI and Productivity with Google Gemini" held at the Mayor’s Conference Room, Talisay City Hall. The activity gathered 20 LGU personnel for an intensive, hands-on learning experience on Artificial Intelligence and its practical applications in local governance.

Organized in collaboration with the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) led by Arlene Firmeza, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI)–Talisay Negros Island Region, the training formed part of the City’s celebration of Civil Service Month—highlighting the vital importance of continuously equipping public servants with modern skills for a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

From AI Fundamentals to Real-World Applications

The morning session kicked off with Andre Claire A. Pangandoyon, Project Development Officer II and Center Manager for Negros Oriental of DICT’s ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB), who covered key concepts in Generative AI, Responsible AI, and Data Privacy.

Participants then explored the practical functions of Google Gemini, including system navigation and efficient prompting principles, during an interactive hands-on workshop led by Eicyl Gwyne L. Santos, Project Development Officer I and Provincial Focal for Negros Occidental, DICT-ILCDB.

In the afternoon session, Raynard P. Nerona, Project Development Officer II and Center Manager for Siquijor, introduced participants to Google NotebookLM, guiding them through navigation and practical documentation exercises tailored to administrative workflows.

Among the participants was Jonah M. Javier, Assistant Department Head of the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (LEIPO), alongside representatives from various offices, including the Talisay Primary Care Facility and the Talisay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (TCDRRMO).

AI-Powered Service, Talisay-Style!

Under the leadership of Mayor Weng Lizares, the City Government of Talisay continues to champion initiatives that strengthen workforce capabilities.

For Mayor Weng, investing in people is directly investing in better governance. By granting LGU employees direct access to emerging technologies and practical digital skills, the City empowers its workforce to operate smarter, faster, and more responsibly—ultimately translating technology into superior service delivery for every Talisaynon.

Because in a city that keeps moving paDAYon, our public servants must continuously learn, adapt, and innovate.
