Talisay City Unveils New Modern Public Market and Terminal Complex at Barangay Zone 12A

Talisay City marked a monumental milestone on the morning of July 18 as residents and city officials, led by Mayor Atty. Weng Lizares, gathered for the grand opening and blessing of the brand-new Talisay City Public Market and Terminal Complex in Hacienda Suan, Barangay Zone 12A. The day kicked off with an energetic Zumba session led by ZIN Saicy Avila, setting a festive tone for the formal inauguration ceremonies.

Beyond the formal protocols, the morning featured a massive community lunch where guests and local vendors shared a feast of local lechon. Mayor Weng used the occasion to highlight that Talisay remains completely African Swine Fever (ASF) free, reassuring residents and visitors that local pork is safe, healthy, and open for business. The celebration also included a raffle draw hosted by the Mayor, giving away prizes to lucky attendees.

Following the main program, Mayor Weng and various city officials personally toured the facility. Moving from stall to stall, they talked directly with the local merchants to ensure a smooth transition and to make sure the vendors felt fully supported as they settled into their new commercial spaces.

Mayor Weng expressed deep gratitude to the teams behind the massive development, specifically thanking the City Engineering Office, the City Treasurer’s Office, and the dedicated staff whose tireless behind-the-scenes efforts turned this long-held infrastructure vision into a reality.

The new complex is designed to be a vibrant hub of local commerce, a modern transport node, and a source of civic pride. As the city continues to grow, this facility stands as a testament to what Talisay can achieve through unified community action.
