MAYOR NEIL LIZARES III MESSAGE
July 28, 2020
In these trying times, the solution to this pandemic lies within us. It always starts with us being responsible in our actions. I am happy that Talisaynons are being appreciative of the efforts of the government. But there are times when I can't seem to be happy despite our progress because of the actions of some constituents.
Last weekend, two LSIs managed to secretly escaped from our quarantine facility through the facility's backwall. Despite being on strict quarantine, they violated protocols and evaded the police only because they wanted to buy alcoholic drinks. Sadly, it is clear that they did not think of the possibilty of infecting other people (if they are Covid-19 positive). Their actions speak of their being irresponsible. Fortunately, they were apprehended immediately and the swab tests results of these two LSIs turned out negative. Regardless, their irresponsibility should not be justified nor tolerated. This must be meted with proper legal sanctions. The panic and worry that this incident brought should not be forgotten. This should be a wake up call to all who continue to violate the rules set forth by the government for our safety. The biggest goal I have during this pandemic is to make sure that the Talisaynons are safe and protected.
The solution to the spread of the virus is not far from us but it starts within us. The government can only do so much but your cooperation is the driving force that will make us win this battle. We cannot guard each and every Talisaynon in their actions. Instead, we ask for your cooperation. Let it be a habit to 1. practice proper handwashing, 2. proper wearing of facemasks, 3. practice strict social distancing. In addition to this, I encourage you to spread positive changes to your family members, neighbors, friends, or even those that you only meet on the streets. Have the courage to politely remind those who do not practice proper handwashing, wearing of facemask, and social distancing, that they are violating the law. Let us help each other be mindful and vigilant. Let us save ourselves by doing our part and helping the government in its efforts. Let us heal as one.
