Himus ni Kulas Food Festival

1st Himos ni Kulas Festival is about traditions best remembered through the palate of food loving families and friends in Talisay City. Around 19 local food exhibitors shall lead a public display of "heirloom" recipes enjoyed by families over so many years of celebrating birthdates, anniversaries, weddings, festivals, etc.
"Himos" or "Himus" are Hiligaynon terms popularly used for "moving on", "getting ready", "set-up", "prepare", "be up-and-about" or get-going of an activity, an errand or prepare a meal for everyone to feast on.


Heirloom recipes

Nena's Leche Flan and Callos con Garbanzos are two of the famous heirloom recipes of the late Nena Ereneta Gustilo, mother of Talisaynon entrepreneur Bing Ereneta Gustilo-Ermac, gracious owner of Cookies and Crumbs.

Other Gustilo heirloom recipes to be layed out to the public for the 1st Himos ni Kulas Food Festival are caldereta, brazo de mercedes, dulce de leche and cheesecake.

Himos ni Kulas Food Festival: Pwerti Food Truck

Pwerti Food Truck is a Talisaynon food vending business, known for its salpicao rice bowl. Owned by Nino Lizares, and now has become a known fixture in outdoor events in towns and cities in Negros Occidental. Pwerti Food Truck gives a delightful experience for young and old who prefers the warm outdoor interaction of customers not common to private restos and bars. (photo by Nino Lizares)
