Strengthening Talisay’s Safety, Health, and Disaster Preparedness: Mayor Lizares Leads Key Council Meetings
June 6, 2025
Talisay City is ramping up efforts to ensure public safety, health, and disaster readiness as Mayor Neil Lizares presided over two crucial back-to-back meetings on June 5 at Nature’s Village Resort. The Joint CADAC, CPOC, and TCDRRM Council Meeting was followed by the Talisay Local Health Board Meeting, focusing on urgent priorities across security, disaster preparedness, and healthcare.

Eagle Eye Project: Expanding Citywide Surveillance
One of the key developments discussed was the progress of the Eagle Eye Project, an initiative led by the Talisay City Component Police Station, in collaboration with #Gwapongaserbisyo. The project has successfully installed 25 CCTV cameras in strategic locations, improving crime prevention, surveillance, and emergency response capabilities. The goal is to expand coverage to 30 key locations before the end of the year.

Progress in Anti-Drug Initiatives
Talisay remains steadfast in its anti-drug campaign, with 22 out of 27 barangays now officially declared drug-cleared. Barangays Zone 4 and Zone 5 have already submitted the necessary requirements and are awaiting deliberation by the Regional Oversight Committee (ROC)—a significant step toward the city’s goal of 100% drug-cleared status by the third quarter of 2025.

Disaster Readiness Amid Rainy Season
With the onset of the rainy season, Mayor Lizares assured that the Talisay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (TCDRRMO) remains on full alert. Preparations are in place to ensure rapid response to any weather-related emergencies, safeguarding residents from potential risks.
Public Health Priorities
During the Local Health Board Meeting, officials tackled pressing health concerns, including HIV and dengue prevention. Efforts to enhance City Health Office services were also discussed to improve healthcare accessibility for Talisaynons.
Transitioning to #GwapaNgaPanghimanwa
Mayor Lizares expressed confidence that under the leadership of incoming Mayor-elect Atty. Weng Lizares, #GwapaNgaPanghimanwa will build upon these initiatives—strengthening public safety, improving healthcare, and expanding city services for the benefit of all residents.
With strong leadership and proactive governance, Talisay City continues to push forward, ensuring a safer, healthier, and more resilient future for its people.
